The happiest day of your life
Your wedding day is one of the happiest days of your life and you want to make it as enjoyable as possible. I have been filming weddings for over a decade and I’ve noticed that while every wedding is unique, many couples and families make the same mistakes that can be avoided for a low-stress (I’m not sure if stress-free is possible) wedding. I have provided some non-scientific tips that can help you have the best day ever.
HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER. Every wedding that has an experienced wedding planner has gone off with few hitches. This person takes over the operations of the wedding and keeps you on track on your big day. The weddings that don’t have planners tend to experience too many people who have declared themselves in charge and conflicts inevitably arise. If your wedding is small (like one bridesmaid, one groomsman small) then you can get away without a wedding planner.
ONE LOCATION FOR LARGE WEDDINGS. Things are so much easier when the place you’re getting ready, the place you’re getting married and the place that you’re having your reception is the same place. This eliminates the expense of transportation and keeps costs and chaos to a minimum. The last thing you want is for half of your guests to get lost on the way to the different locations.
3. NO GUEST CELLPHONE PICTURES. If you are going to invest in a quality photographer, please let your guests know that their cellphones are not allowed. Nothing is more frustrating than a huge cellphone in the middle of a picture that the videographer or photographer has set up.
4. FEED YOUR WORKERS. If you are hungry by the time the reception is going on, imagine your photographer and videographers feel. They have been working all day, and fueling up gives us the energy to finish out the day strong. An exhausted and hungry photographer will be counting down the minutes until his or her contracted time is up. A well fed photographer or videographer can think about new and creative ways to photograph your time.
5. HAVE FUN! It’s your day! There are going to be things that go wrong. A young ring bearer will get nervous and start to cry halfway down the aisle, the flower girl will walk down the aisle looking dazed and not drop any pedals. Somebody might accidentally kick over the candle on the floor. It’s okay!! The wedding is the celebration of the marriage, not the marriage itself. If you focus on how much you are in love with your partner and how excited you are to be committing your lives to each other, you’ll be able to look back at those blunders and laugh.
